Visitors are very welcome at St Peter's Catholic Church Cirencester

Here is some helpful information if you are new to the parish or are just visiting...

Children’s liturgy

Children’s instruction is held on most Sundays at the 0930hrs Mass. The children and their catechists leave the church after the initial greeting and have their instruction in the Parish hall next door to the church. They then rejoin the rest of the congregation at the offertory. Top

Confessions

Penitents wishing to make their confession in the Sacristy "face-to-face" - as is always a choice open to them - are asked either to make that known on entering the confessional or to knock on the Sacristy door.  A white bell push at its left is for use if the priest is not in the confessional during the announced times.  Top

Large print version

A Large print version of the weekly bulletin is available at the back of the church. Top

Mass times

Information on Mass times can be found here. We have three Sunday Masses. The 9:30 Mass of the second Sunday of each month, is a children’s Mass where we encourage children to participate. Top

Parking

The church does not have its own car park. There are usually a few spaces available in St Peter's Road but more are available in Ashcroft road which adjoins St Peter's road. St Peter's church is also an easy walk from the Brewery Car Park in the centre of Cirencester. Top

Receiving Holy Communion

At some Masses there will be directions from a sides(wo)man for those wishing to receive Communion. (S)he will start at the front row on the left hand (sacristy) side, work down that side to the back of the church and then continue from the back row on the right hand side towards the front. At Sunday Masses or on Holy Days, if there is no sides(wo)man the same procedure should be followed. Please note, all those at Mass who are not in Full Communion with the Catholic Church and those Catholics not receiving Holy Communion are warmly invited to come forward for a blessing.Top

Refreshments

Tea & Coffee are served after the Sunday 9:30 Mass in the parish hall which is next door to the church. Top

Responses

The bulletin gives the Entrance Antiphon (used when a hymn is not sung), the response to the verses of the Responsorial Psalm, the Gospel Acclamation, and the Antiphon at Communion, together with the sources of the First and Second Readings and of the Gospel. When needed for Holydays of Obligation, these will be provided separately. The Gloria and Creed are to be found on the last page of Hymns Old and New.
