A note from Fr Philip Thomas [posted 16th January 2021]
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
On Sunday last 10th January, I consulted both congregations about how best to respond to a decline in parishioners being available for cleaning and stewarding, as required by the Government to be open for public worship. The overwhelming consensus was that, with immediate effect, we should no longer be open for weekday masses, but should continue to be open on Sunday morning for Masses at 9.00 am and 11.00 am. The wisdom of this decision was confirmed by Government advice to minimise social contact during this Third National Lock-down, as we experience more contagious forms of That Virus!! Our spiritual and emotional well being, as well as our mental health needs Sunday Mass, but, for the good of the wider community, we must sacrifice our right to worship in public as conscience demands on weekdays
Mass will continue to be offered each day behind closed doors for the well being of the living and the dead, for the sick and those who care for them, for our front-line workers and for our national leaders.
Be assured of my prayerful support.
